2017 - My grandfather and I after receiving my undergraduate degree in the mail. He died soon after I told him I was getting a hip surgery that he long urged me to get, and that I was pursuing a master’s degree (something he pushed me on as well). He had a rare talent for appealing to all generations despite being born in Anderson, Indiana in 1923.
Greetings!
I’m really thankful for the new subscribers.
Starting today, I will be writing a daily post that reflects on the present-day ramifications of a historical episode that happened on that same calendar day.
I still plan to do historical deep dives on specific topics; however, those will come out the second and fourth Saturday of every month.
Tonight, we reflect on “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” which was published on March 20, 1852, and changed American society forever.
I am really grateful for all of the support, and it has inspired me to continue writing. In return, I will generate more content that brings together history and contemporary news cycles in order to reinforce that age-old biblical phrase: “there is nothing new under the sun.”
Much love,
Steward
Great idea!
